Solstice

I spent the afternoon and evening today at the beach for the first time in years. I was with my mother and her friends and a friend of mine. We had a little picnic on the beach at a spot we supposed was "high ground." However, as the waves got bigger, one crashed high up the beach and completely drowned our little patch of festivities. Wet though everything was, nothing was damaged. Just a great moment.

We stayed till it got dark out, savoring every last moment of the longest day of the year. Finally we left after the sun had set, just as the moon, blood red, was rising over the opposite shore.

Cat v. Camera

Meet Gray Matter, who is actually known only as kitty. In short, she's very evil. Here, she's attacking the wristband on my camera. Isn't she so cute! I'm going to miss her so much...

Movies

Be proud of me! I finally got some movies up - it took me forever to find a host, and in the end what I did was convince my mom that the .Mac family plan was right for us, thereby getting access to video hosting. Believe me, there is NOWHERE that offers good free hosting. I have searched and searched, and the places that host for free host only 2MB movies, or DO NOT work (grrrrrr), or host movies in weird formats into which I can't convert my clips.

But no mind! Now I have hosting (albeit INCREDIBLY SLOW hosting), so check it out!! Oh, and also as a result of my .Mac membership I now have a mac e-mail address (yay!!!!), iristhecamel@mac.com.

Not much else happening. Slowly I'm spending more and more time asleep. Rather nice, really.

Macintosh vs. the WORLD

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD AND MACS!?!?!! It would seem that SYA does not support the Macintosh platform, just like everyone else in the world!!! Dyaaaaah!

So I'm thinking of getting a PC (probably Dell), but I really hate the idea of being away from my iBook for 9 whole months.... I'm trying to reconcile myself to the idea by remembering that I'll be able to play all the Windows platform games I had to give up when I went Macintosh, but that'll just make me feel depressed, since I gave all those games away as soon as I got my iBook. Actually, though, I did keep just one (too important to ever give up!), and that alone just might be able to convince me to get a Windows laptop.... "Grim Fandango" a brilliant Lucas Arts game that actually ties for first place alongside the "Monkey Island" games. It's been sitting next to my computer gathering dust for months, although every once in a while I take it out and try yet again to install it on my computer (I guess that's what denial is like for Windows gamers turned Mac). Also I'd be able to play both "Curse of Monkey Island" and "Escape from Monkey Island"!!! Gosh, that's pretty tempting... But I have to remember that I probably would not have the time to play computer games during my time in Italy, so games aside, I really don't want a PC that much.

On the flip side of the coin, I could just take my iBook to Italy and refuse to bow down to the Windows fascists. Show them there's nothing wrong with Macs!

Maybe I should change my name to MacKelvey...

The Birds say it's Spring

Recently some mockingbirds built this nest right outside my kitchen window, and they raised two little babies. The little birds were so cute - they were all scraggly and they would chirp all day long. The parents were hilarious, too: they would divebomb my cat, who loved to come torment them.

The babies left before I got my camera, so I haven't got any pictures of them :( They were adorable, though.
